Well Kisame's death was the only way to regain his nobility/pride as a ninja. In other words, since he did not do good in life he choose to die well.
It's not actually too sad to think about it.
Kisame just chose a path that Itachi didn't. That is the main difference.
So one should see that unlike the rest of the Akastuki... Itachi was the only one that care for others rather than himself/pride. (Kisame seeks to die with pride) (Itachi doesn't die with pride)

It kind of strange because we would expecting the 5 kage whatever alliance army to attack Madara hideout by now and yet it turn out to be that he is in the village of rain (are they all being defeated?). It is quite obvious that he would not kill Konan right away given the fact that he still need her to guide him to Nagato using Tsukuyomi. I have an feel that Madara intend to use the rain country to wage the war against the kages and if possible once the scroll reach to him, we will see an good fight in the waterfall island.

Now we know why kisame respected Itachi.
Kisame joined akatsuki to make it a place were there were no lies (he wouldn't have to kill any more comrades), so when he met itachi, he chose to change right there and for the first time to have a true comrade.

This chapter is as obvious as Kisame's death Konan is going to die. Again I have to say sorry to Konan fans but nobody is going to help her. Seeing how Tobi is he will probably have someone else there hiding. If not then we will see the first true full fight from Tobi and might discover his fighting technique. Konan might even do a Jaraiya type thing where she does a jutsu to write a message on a paperplane and make it fly to Konoha revealing a weakness in Tobi's technique.

i don't want madara to get the rinnegan. i want naruto to get it. and here's another thought. i don't mean to change the subject but someone said in the 508 prediction that madara twisted itachi's and his own story and said that there were rumours that an uchiha manipulated the fox. what if madara purposely let out information that it was an uchiha who led the attack? that way, people would grow suspicious of the uchiha clan and when the third hokage heard the rumours he either grew suspicious of them or simply ignored them. either way, he probably didn't intend on killing the entire uchiha clan. so that's when madara came in and manipulated him. he made the third tell itachi to kill the uchiha clan. when itachi refuesed, madara revealed that he was manipulating the third and forced itachi to kill the uchiha clan. so, itahci did it but couldn't kill sasuke. that's when itachi told sasuke to become stronger and one day fight him, because that day itachi will implant amaterasu into sasuke's eyes. he would implant it not only to protect sasuke from madara, but also so that sasuke may use it to kill madara. but he knew that sasuke would become a rogue ninja so at some point he gave naruto a jutsu and placed another one on him so that he ay see a dream where itachi informs him that he gave him that power. he would also ask naruto if he can actually bring sasuke back. now, he didn't give sasuke the jutsu because sasuke would probably use it for the wrong reasons. itachi figured that after sasuke killed madara, he'd go after naruto so he gave naruto the jutsu. itachi probably hated himself for doing all that but thought it was the only way to defeat madara.
personally, i think naruto will be the one to defeat madara and he will bring sasuke back to konoha.
so, i'd like to see some feedback on this theory.

people shouldn't be so quick to refer to Tobi as 'Madara' yet, lets atleast wait until we know FOR SURE that it's him. until then, let Tobi be Tobi.
My thoughts on Tobi regardless is that it's either Madara or Fugaku. and i will stick by that till his identity is revealed.

I understand what you mean about what you said, but after being heavily into programming and its languages (C++, JavaScript, UNIX, PERL, etc), I have learn to accept this one proverb written by one of the authors of those books I have read based on logic...
"If words spoken or words be written, it must be accepted as true until proven otherwise."
So therefore, since we do not have enough information to disprove of Tobi being Madara, then I have no choice but to believe he is Madara. If Tobi said he was Obito, the same rule would apply. If Tobi was Fugaku, the same rule would apply. If Tobi were Shisui, the same rule would apply. If Tobi were Kagami, the same rule would apply. If Tobi were anyone else and he kept telling people over, and over, and over again that he is Madara... then who are we to say he is anything else?
For the sake of this discussion, let's suppose "ibusturcherry" real name is Todd. However, "ibusturcherry" is going around saying to everyone on Narutoverse that... "HEY EVERYONE! MY REAL NAME IS BRAD!" Who are we, as others who post comments on here, to say that you are not really Brad? The only ones who can say otherwise are those who really know who you are and have PROOF! heres my thing...Eyesocket....why are there so many instances of Tobi telling ppl that he is 'Madara'? its most probably because Kishi is trying to play it out to the point where we've heard it enough to believe its him until suddenly....BAM! its not even him. i believe the thought of him being Madara is being so strained that it might not even be him. This is just an assumption, i too believe that he could in fact be Madara, but there ARE other points of interest that could point to him NOT being Madara...
e.g., Kabuto sarcastically calling him Madara when he approaches Madara. Re-read that chapter, you can notice the 'inside joke' type relationship Tobi and Kabuto build around the concept of him being 'Madara'... see what im sayin?

Also another example that kinda leans toward Tobi being Fugaku would be back in the flashback during Kushina's birth...Fugaku's wife, kushina's best friend, knew all a long of the pregnancy, saw Kushina before heading to the birthing room, couldve easily notified Fugaku of the moment to strike...hence, him not reading the 4th's counermeasures, he just knew of them prior to attacking...
ya this theory is a bit out there, but falls in to place pretty well, they were even missing during the kyubi attack...
im not saying that this instance disproves of Tobi being 'Madara', he could also have been able to accomplish all of that

How I have analyzed it, what Kabuto said can be taken into two ways...
(1) It can be that Madara was going under the guise of Tobi and he just remembered that he is revealing his true self as without discretion, or...

(1) Kabuto is actually acknowledging him as Uchiha Madara, but taking him lightly because he has a "trump" over him to get what he want, which is Uchiha Sasuke. By him saying that is pretty much saying to Madara that, "I have you in check. You have no choice, BUT to accept my demand".
(2) Is pretty much what you just said to me ibusturcherry... that Kabuto knows he IS NOT Madara.
All I can tell you my friend is that based on what we have read and made references towards... it is still too hard to "connect-the-dots" with Tobi right now. There are still too many variables about who he is. I can only go with the assumption that he is Madara because we don't have the facts to disprove him yet.

Tobi never told zetsu that he wont sync Sasuke, he said he would like to sync sasuke but if sasukes gets too powerful to control then itll be pointless.
and tobi didnt mention him having the rinnegan, he said he better go collect it. hence why he went after konan after transplanting itachis eyes into sasuke.

Agreed, it can also be taken the first way u mentioned. but either way we do stand at the same point in a way. leaning mostly towards madara since most stuff said in the manga points towards him, but at the same time, not reallyyy sure of that fact.

if tobi were to be a unknown Uchiha his life was probably like this. Madara and Izuna gained the MS has anyone wondered who they killed that was close to them to gain it. It was probably someone close to this unknown Uchiha. Or in the time when everyone was killing everyone to get the MS, this unknown Uchiha was probably affected by this. What I'm trying to say is probably that Tobi is like Nagato "a monster created from hatred". Tobi created a hatred to the Uchiha clan and after Madara's death he took his identity. I think the core of this is close to what Itachi planned, but I think what he gave to Naruto was a back up to the amaterasu he gave to Sasuke. That's why he said he hopes Natuto never has to use what he gave him. Itachi knew, if he failed to get Madara with the amaterasu, Naruto would be his last line of defense. Also, what ever Itachi gave to Naruto would be powerful, but dangerous to Sasuke. That's why he asked Naruto what he planned to do with Sasuke. What you think.

it could be like that, but i think itachi's gift is much stronger than amaterasu. now, you can't combine frs and amaterasu, but let's imagine that you can. it would create a really powerful jutsu. i think itachi's gift is at least that strong.

I agree with you also. We both pretty much have the same common ground. I am only calling Tobi Madara because he says he is. I still have my doubts too, but at the same time, I am not really sure too as you have said.
On a side note... not too many people on here can agree to disagree. That's why I respect people's theories and discussions, but if someone says something that is contradictory and there are facts to disprove what has been said... I will say something, lol! I do recall you making mention to something similar to my thoughts. I also recalling you saying that it is possible that Tobi is an unknown Uchiha. That can and may be true. Think about it... During the night of the Uchiha Massacre... how do we know that ALL of the Uchiha were slaughtered, saved for Sasuke, Itachi, and Tobi? For all we know, some Uchiha could have been away on missions or elsewhere. That's when your theory would really come into play. We are not certain if all Uchiha are dead. The only thing we can assume since Kishimoto is writing and saying to us through the story that there were only three Uchiha that survived (until Itachi died, of course).

Was Tobi just used as an alias when he was in Akatsuki's ranks?
The name Tobi was rarely used outside of the Akatsuki members, and then when he revealed himself as Madara, only Zetsu or half of Zetsu refered to him as Tobi.
Well, Kabuto calls him Tobi, but then again, Kabuto is a jackass.
I'm with Eyebanger, but I'd also like to add the thought that Tobi is merely an alias, kinda like that show where the bosses of corporations go undercover as an employee just to see how the working conditions are.

That's an interesting point. I thought about that a while ago, but that's just my personal opinion. None of the Akatsuki members knew who Tobi truly was, saved for Itachi, Zetsu, and finally Kisame. I wonder though, did Orochimaru know of Madara? If Kabuto knows, then surely Orochimaru should have known too. Anyone like to comment on my thought?

Zetsu and Kabuto are the only ones alive who might know; definitely Zetsu.
Danzo probably knew, but he's also dead.
If Orochimaru knew, it probably wasn't on his radar as he had other priorities.

Oro knowing Tobi as in Madara may not be true. Remember, Kabuto asks Tobi when he confronts him if he's actually going my 'Madara' these days. So this could mean that when kabuto was a spy in akatsuki he knew Tobi as either Tobi or someone else..

Also, u know what i just realized? Kisame had the ability to absorb chakras, and Samehada could even feel chakras, giving both of them the ability to distinguish chakras...
so then, why was kisame or samehada ever alerted to the presence of 'Madara', or even recognizing the man under the mask since he's surely met this person before (when whoever they are controlled the mizukage)
im thinking whoever this person is may not even have ANY chakra, he is in fact as itachi stated, a shell. a shell that only contains the identity of someone whose lost all their power...Madara? hmmm, never thought about something that simple

so this Tobi has chakra, which completely throws me for a loop now :S

I doubt that madara can make direct use of the rinnegan in his shell, and even sasuke might not be ready since he has to master eternal magekyo, and even if rinnegan id the next step to EMS, i am sure that it will suck and require a lot chakra even from an exceptional uchiha like sasuke right now
