(One of) the word(s) for "love" in Japanese is "ai". This is pronounced like "I". In fact, (in Japanese) any part of a word written as a-i would be pronounced "I". Following that, writing "Pain" in kana would cause his name to be pronounced "pine". VERY intimidating.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a smart-ass, but I just wanted to point that out because I thought you might have made a mistake or something.

OOOO found out info about Pein/Pain. His name isn't the word "pain", it is accually "Pein" which comes from the Japanese word for "torment". The manga just uses the word "pain" because it is similar in sound and meaning.

...Just had to point something out here. If "Pain" spelled in katakana would make his name "Pine", then "Pein" can make his name "Pain." Katakana doesn't spell the word as it would be in English; rather, it makes it sound as similar as possible to the English word. Which is what I think the writer meant. They probably weren't saying it was "Pain" as in パイン, but rather that it is pronounced like Pain would be in English. Which would make that his name. ...Or it could just have been a Japanese meaning all along which'd make this discussion totally pointless. Meh, I haven't really picked a side. D:

Deidara is the best ... i mean really he caught two bijuus (Gaara and the Sanbi the turtle) he almost got Naruto too but Kakashi was there which was trouble for him.
Note: he took out three tails with one clay bomb which was a fish meaning it must have been strong since it was under water where explosives don't work the as well. He can do so much damage(like Oshako the giant bomb he droped on the sand village which if not for Gaara would have eraticated the village) and use his clay so intellegently even if its not formed(like when Gaara crushed his hand, the clay formed it self and exploded when he wanted them to). He can use mines to alter the terrain to his advantage, while he flies in the sky. He can make microscopic bombs spreading 10 km and make exploding clay puppets. He can use a verity of earth style jutsu and is a long range fighter but is still so skilled in taijutsu(like using only his mouth plus a kunai to fend off all of team guy). He trained his eye to counteract genjutsu from a sharingan or just a user. Even the leader of Akatsuki Pain (Nagato) said that he was a strong, useful member and his death was a big loss. Even the Tsuchikage said he was one of the strongest earth ninja and couldn't believe Sasuke defeated him, which in my opinion Deidara could have won. And all this at the age of 19. Seriously think about it, all that at the age of 19 there's no comparision to other ninja. The Akatsuki ranks are more like this-and why:
1. Pain (Nagato) -rinnegan and all jutsu
2. Tobi (Madara) -Ghost like powers, doesn't die easily
3. Deidara-read above paragraph
4. Kisame- chakra level of a bijuu which his sword continusly increases
5 Zetsu- his mayfly jutsu he can move with the roots in the ground and appear undetected.
6. Konan- her Origami Justu, i think she might be immortal
Note: Konan and Zetsu tie for those placements they can be argued back and forth
7. Kazuzu- he can take hearts, then use every jutsu that person knew
8. Itachi- his full use of the eye he has but sasuke isn't that strong so he must not be to lose to him
9. Sasori- because his effectiveness and wide verity of puppets and his iron sand jutsu
10. Hidan- the weakest of the members cause even though he can't die he can only kill you if he cuts you up or uses his only jutsu but he needs your blood for it to work
(so if he loses his arms he cant get your blood or kill u with his sythe)
As you can see the list doesn't contain Sasuke's team as Akatsuki members cause they were only members to catch the 8 tails and failed anyway.

@53 each rating is biased and hunting down the tailed demons wasn't detailed, so we don't fully know how powerful each one is, just think about it, the author picks things that will happen and each varies.
I think Uchiha Itachi at least on number 3, he is much more powerful than he is being shown. Too bad he died.

absolutely rite..sasuke supposed to have no chance against itachi...itachi got his last genjutsu (sussano'o) out, just 2 released sasuke from the cursed mark when sasuke had no more chakra left which forced him 2 draw out more chakra, and silenced orochimaru 4ever, which means sasuke had nothin 2 compare with susano'o and amaterasu..still so weak

I can try explain. Itachi's plans about Sasuke having the Mangekyo, he wants Sasuke be strong enough to deal with Madara or anyone else and not submit at their wishes and protect himself. Most of all, he want Sasuke believe he can be a good ninja and fight for what is right. But we are talking about a man(Sasuke) who only believe in nothing but hatred. And I think he try influnce Sasuke with his own dead but this not happen. That what I think what Itachi try to do.

i am wondering....y the hell did pein distribute his techniques in to the six bodies??...y??...wasnt there room for these amazing powers in one person??....i am telling u...if pein would have used all his powers in one body..then naruto-sage wouldnt do jack-shit to him...but the naruto-creators need to find ways to exit the villians and make naruto look stronger...i dont completely accept it...

Pain got the rinnegan from tobi who has 2 eyes under his mask and for sure has madaras soul I'm not sure who the body belongs to and itachi wanted sauke to get the mangekyo so he could have itachis eyes when he died because he was nearly blind and was already dying for some reason and wished for sasuke to b protected from madara

The sage of the sixth paths's name is Rikudou Sennin.
The strongest person is Uchiha Madara a.k.a. Tobi, he has Mangekyou Saringan on his right eye, and Rinnegan on his left eye, this means he mastered all jutsu (taijutsu, ninjutsu, and genjutsu). He also mastered transportation jutsu, so any jutsu won't work againts him, not even "touch" him, plus he is immortal (he got this jutsu from orochimaru). So...any word?

I don't think so guys, remember Obito's last moment. His whole right-body was crushed (so was his right eye), then he gave his left eye to Kakashi, and there is no way a genin-kid would survive from that event.
Tobi lost his left eye because of his own jutsu called Izanagi during his battle against the First-Hokage, a jutsu to make wound or death just a dream, a jutsu that needs an eye of saringan to be sacrificed when activated

It's not true, Madara used Mangekyou Sharingan when controlling Kyuubi to destroy Konoha. Try to check Naruto chapter 502, it shows his Mangekyou there.

not exactly, Itachi was already on the verge of dieing (it was stated that he was using potions to extend his life so he could fight sasuke) so sasuke had a watered down itachi as a enemy (much like with his battle with oruchimaru and danzo)
so beating a nearly dead enemy doesn't lead to accuracy on strength.

lol, that is true. but that battle was also about testing sasukes abilities :) but i persionally think sasuke would have gotten no where if itachi havent have gave sasuke power, itachi is too nice. and in my opinion sasuke is just a loser driven by revenge, no offence to anybody. i also think itachi is very smart, and he never technically did anything wrong (konaha ordered him to do it! and he didnt want a war going on!) he cared for sasuke, but sasuke never even tried to think of his loving brother, sasuke couldnt wake up and remember itachi, or see why itachi let him live. but i have to hand it to sasuke, his sword is pretty cool, even though i hate him. LOL.

I see people arguing about who was the strongest of the akatsuki, and I see Tobi/Madara on the top of a few lists and I have to disagree, he's definitely the smartest and most cunning but I don't think the strongest, he lets or manipulates other people into fighting the battles he wants as a result of what's hailed due to his 'diminished power, because of his age' but look at it this way, everyone knows about his feud with Itachi, Madara saw him as a threat and ask yourself why he never took him out after all the years Itachi was a part of akatsuki, because he knew he wasn't a match for Itachi...Madara never shows his hand until he wants you to see it and he's suspicious of everyone, all that he cares about is being the most powerful shinobi, if you throw in his smarts with his huge power he's the most deadly, but on share power I'd have to give it to Pain...don't base it on who's the last to survive, Madara is just smarter than all the other members in that regard

i believe itachi was 17 before the time skip and 19 after. at the time of their battle, he was nearly dead from an unknown disease/ailment (either what i assume is consumption from the spitting up of blood, or simply overuse of his sharingan). he purposly lost to sasuke. sasuke was not actually stronger than him at that time. sasori is actually one of the strongest members of akatsuki, and actually graduated form the academy at a younger age than itachi did. also, no offense to anyone, but if you pay close attention to what various characters say about each other throughout the manga (not the anime!) you can get a somewhat decent hold on the relative strengths of each member of the group. also, who won what battle is very circumstantial, since being the stronger ninja doesn't always mean you will win. gaara probably could have defeated deidara if he didn't expend so much chakra defending his village. even deidara alluded to this during thier fight, and that is why he targeted the village. hidan flat out admits he is the weakest member of the group, and madara states that zetsu is not a combat type shinobi, but rather more of a support/infiltration type. also. konan is always put towards the bottom of the strength rankings, but if you consider all of her encounters, she is probably on eof the more powerful ones. during the attack on konoha, she took out multiple targets at once, and fended off several members of the aburame clan with reletive ease. and after all of that, we learn that it was only a paper clone. (she states before she leaves to be with nagato that she is no longer going to use her clone.) AND she is one of only three people that we know of (the others being the first and fourth hokage) who was able to almost kill madara. if it hadn't been for his izanagi trump card, she would have killed him. her ultimate jutsu is one of the strongest we've seen in terms of sheer damage delt. anywhoo, strength is reletive in the naruto series, especially among the stronger characters, so who wins in a battle really is more about the specific circumstances surrounding that particular fight, and how the combatants use their abilities, rather than saying "this person is always stronger than this person." it really depends.
